Situation
The islands
and islets of the Seychelles archipelago are scattered over
400,000 km² of the Indian Ocean between latitudes 4°
-11°south of the equator and longitudes 46°
and 56° east. Lying east of Kenya and 950 km north of
Madagascar, the 115 islands (only 20 are inhabitated) cover
only 453 km² of land.

Climate
Seychelles experiences perpetual summer weather with the annual
temperature 24° to 30°. There are two different windy
seasons :the southeast trade winds from May to October, low
humidity, less rainfall, strong winds and rough seas : the
northwest monsoon from November to April ,very hot season,high
humidity and the seas are calm,the best season for a great
holiday.
Visas
and immigration regulations
Visas
are not required.All visitors required a valid passport.On
arrival vistors are granted a one month visa which is extendable
to three months,on production of an onward or return tickets
and valid travel documents.An airport tax of 40$ must be paid
on departure.
Health
Seychelles
is free from malaria and other tropical diseases.No vaccination
certificates are therefore necessary,but keep your tetanus
and polio immunisation up to date.Just pack a small medical
kit containing disinfectant,cotton wool, plasters, lotion
for bites (mosquitoes, sunflies)...
Time
Seychelles
is four hours ahead of Greenwhich Mean Time.3 hours ahead
of British summer time,9-15 hours ahead of US time,7-13 hours
ahead of Canadian time,4-6 hours behind Australia time and
8 hours behind New Zealand time.
Currency
The
Seychelles Rupee is dividend into 100 cents.Notes are issued
in denominations of 100,50,25 and 10 rupees.The coins are
5,10and 25 cents,1 rupee and 5 rupees.Exchange rates are published
daily in local newspaper.There are banking facilities at the
International Airport otherwise banks at Victoria open between
8.30am - 2 pm Monday to Friday and on Saturday 8.30am -11.00am.
Security
Seychelles
is a friendly and peaceful country,well-policed,where crime
of any kind is very rare.However visitors are advised to lock
their cars and keep a watchful eye on their belongings when
swimming. .
Languages
Seychelles
is trilingual .Creole is the official language,english is
the language use for law and commerce and french is also well
spoken.
