Named "île
d'abondance" in 1742 by french explorer (Lazare Picault),
Mahe is the largest of the Seychelles granitic islands. The
main island of Seychelles is by far the largest centre of
business and commerce, it is home for the vast majority of
the country's population. All imports and export by sea pass
through Port Victoria and all international flights arrive
and depart from Seychelles International Airport. Mahe still
remains the most visited island, infact it consists of around
68 white sandy beaches, some spectacular and highly popular,
others quieter and more deserted. They all have their own
pride and deserve to be seen however.
